Description
The State of Wisconsin Joint Solicitation supports scientific research and monitoring that answers questions about Wisconsin groundwater and meets state program needs. Facilitated by the Wisconsin Groundwater Coordinating Council and the University of Wisconsin Water Resources Institute (WRI), it coordinates the Universities of Wisconsin with the Wisconsin departments of Natural Resources (DNR); Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP); and Safety and Professional Services (DSPS). Researchers submit one proposal for consideration by the participating organizations rather than preparing separate, overlapping proposals.
For FY28, funding is anticipated through the UW Groundwater Research and DNR Groundwater Monitoring and Research programs. UW considers fundamental and applied work across disciplines; DNR emphasizes research and monitoring useful for groundwater and drinking-water decisions. DATCP and DSPS participate in review and recommendations but have no FY28 funding available.
