Description
This program provides federal grants to state and federally recognized tribal governments for the construction, renovation, or repair of state- or tribal-owned and operated veterans’ extended care facilities, including skilled nursing, domiciliary, and adult day health care centers. The goal is to enhance the quality and availability of long-term care services for veterans by supporting the development and modernization of these facilities. Projects can include new construction, expansion, remodeling, or addressing life safety deficiencies. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) can fund up to 65% of approved project costs, with the state or tribe responsible for the remaining 35% or more.
