The Steckel Diversity Field Trips Grant is designed to support junior-high and high school Earth Science or STEM teachers who primarily serve Black, Hispanic or Latino/a, Pacific Islander, and/or American Indian/Alaskan Native students. The grant funds hands-on, geoscience-focused field trips that aim to inspire interest in geoscience careers among underrepresented groups. Teachers are encouraged to create engaging itineraries with at least three different types of outdoor stops, involve local geoscience professionals and students, and incorporate map usage throughout the trip. The program's goal is to foster early exposure to geoscience and encourage students to consider geoscience career paths.
