This grant, administered by the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio in partnership with the Longaberger Family Foundation, supports innovative K-12 civics education programs throughout Appalachian Ohio’s 32 counties. The program seeks to empower youth to become informed and engaged community members and future leaders by funding projects that promote civic knowledge, participation, and leadership. Eligible projects may include classroom instruction, student-led activities, experiential learning, leadership training, and initiatives commemorating milestones such as America’s 250th anniversary. Since 2019, more than $135,000 has been awarded to support civics education in the region.
