Description
This opportunity funds a single consortium of Land-grant Institutions to lead the Sun Grant Program, which aims to enhance national energy security, promote varied agricultural production systems, drive economic growth in rural areas, and improve the efficiency of bioenergy and biomass research and development. The awardee will oversee five regional Sun Grant Centers and a Subcenter, allocating at least 75% of funds to a competitive regional grants program supporting multi-institutional, integrated, and multi-state initiatives in research, extension, and education.
The program is designed to foster collaboration among Land-grant Colleges and Universities, the USDA, and other federal agencies, supporting the development and implementation of biobased energy and product technologies. The funded consortium will be responsible for administering subgrants, ensuring compliance, and providing guidance to the regional centers.
