Description
Supporting Women’s Health Services provides competitive grants to local health departments and nonprofit community health centers serving North Carolina. Established in 2023, the program is administered by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health, Women, Infant, and Community Wellness Section. It funds evidence-based and evidence-informed strategies that increase access to reproductive and maternal health services, strengthen care coordination, reduce barriers to care, and address health disparities.
The program prioritizes underserved, uninsured, or medically indigent individuals. Local health departments may expand contraceptive access and/or improve maternal and infant health through designated strategies. Nonprofit community health centers may apply only for contraceptive access, specifically long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs). Projects must explain why their selected strategies fit community needs and how they will improve health outcomes.
