The Sustain Our Great Lakes Program is a public–private partnership administered by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) to sustain, restore, and protect fish, wildlife, and habitats throughout the U.S. portion of the Great Lakes basin. The program funds on-the-ground projects that address key ecological issues such as habitat loss, water quality degradation, invasive species, and stormwater management. Major funding is provided by the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) and program partners.
For 2026, the program will support projects in four main categories:
Projects must occur within the U.S. portion of the Great Lakes basin and directly contribute to measurable program goals. The program encourages projects that leverage partnerships, community engagement, and innovative conservation approaches.
