Description
This fellowship opportunity at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) focuses on advancing the skill of short- and medium-range weather forecasts (2- to 10-day range) by improving atmospheric observing systems through targeted methods. Research involves the use of both space-based and in-situ observations to enhance forecast accuracy. The Navy global forecast model and its adjoint, along with the global ensemble forecasting system and ensemble transform techniques, serve as primary tools for atmospheric predictability studies and assessing the impact of observations on forecast skill.
