The Teacher Quality and Retention Program (TQRP) is a competitive fellowship designed to recruit, train, and support aspiring, pre-service, and early-career teachers—primarily from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs). The program aims to develop teacher leaders equipped with research-based, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed teaching practices to serve in high-need urban and rural K-12 schools. Fellows participate in an intensive Summer Institute, receive year-round mentoring and professional development, and join a nationwide network of educators committed to educational equity and excellence. Special emphasis is placed on supporting Black male educators and STEM majors.
