This federal grant program provides competitive funding to state agencies administering USDA Child Nutrition Programs—including the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)—to strengthen training, technical assistance, and nutrition education for child nutrition professionals. The goal is to improve meal quality, support wellness policies, promote whole, minimally processed foods, and build sustainable infrastructure for program operators.
Applicants must select one of two objectives:
Funds may be used for staff, training, nutrition education materials, technology, travel, and other costs directly supporting the selected objective. Sub-grants to eligible entities (such as SFAs, CACFP institutions, land-grant colleges, and nonprofits with relevant expertise) are permitted but not required.
