The Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) is a state-funded initiative administered by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) to address teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and associated socio-economic challenges in communities with high risk. The program targets African American and Hispanic youth in grades 6–12, as well as other vulnerable groups such as wards of the state, victims of human trafficking (ages 10–19), homeless and runaway youth under 20, and youth in the Department of Juvenile Justice. PREP provides evidence-based education, resources, and support designed to empower youth to make informed decisions and improve their well-being.
