This program funds two academic medical centers to serve as Telehealth Centers of Excellence, advancing and evaluating innovative telehealth solutions for rural populations and communities with limited access to services. The centers will implement at least 20 high-quality, evidence-based telehealth projects annually, focusing on chronic conditions, primary care, behavioral health, maternal and child health, nutrition, and emerging technologies (including AI). The goal is to develop, test, and share best practices and proven approaches that can expand access to care and improve health outcomes nationwide, serving as models for replication and providing technical assistance, resources, and guidance to providers, policymakers, and the public.
