Description
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) funds the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services Mobile Stroke Unit program to provide emergency stroke treatment in Texas communities. Mobile units bring trained personnel, diagnostic equipment and acute treatment to a patient’s location or while transporting the patient to a medical facility. The eligible population includes people with stroke, traumatic brain injury or traumatic spinal cord injury.
Projects must provide evidence-based services. Eligible work includes starting a mobile stroke unit or expanding or maintaining an operational unit. Services may include stroke diagnosis, treatment outside a hospital, neurologist consultation and telemedicine. The program aims to improve outcomes through rapid diagnosis and treatment.
