The Step Forward Fund is designed to empower grassroots organisations led by and serving Global Majority and racially minoritised communities in England. Co-designed with The Phoenix Community Trust, the fund aims to address barriers these groups face in accessing larger, long-term funding, such as structural racism, lack of capacity, and short-term funding cycles. The fund provides targeted investment to help organisations build their capacity, develop sustainable growth plans, and transition from small, project-based grants to larger, multi-year funding. It also seeks to generate learning to improve funding practices and drive positive change in the wider sector.
