Description
The Thriving Neighborhoods grant from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is designed to increase the number of thriving neighborhoods in Greater Hartford, with a strong focus on improving quality of life for Black and Latine residents. The grant seeks to address long-standing disparities by supporting initiatives that:
- Promote community-driven agency, organizing, and advocacy for social and economic development.
- Invest in eviction prevention, homeownership accessibility, and education to ensure housing stability and wealth-building.
- Preserve and develop community assets that reflect and strengthen neighborhood identity.
- Foster the growth of resident-owned small businesses.
- Strengthen social connections and civic engagement, ensuring historically excluded residents are active decision-makers in shaping their neighborhoods.
