The Tirone E. David International Fellowship, administered by the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) Foundation, is designed to support early- and mid-career international cardiac surgeons by providing opportunities for advanced observational training at leading North American institutions. The fellowship also includes a component in which a North American cardiac surgeon-mentor visits the recipient’s home institution to provide further training, education, or research support. The program aims to enhance participants’ clinical skills, foster professional relationships, and ultimately improve patient care in cardiac surgery, with an emphasis on global health impact.
