Summary: Funds research to develop advanced methods for assessing and mitigating the impacts of human-made underwater noise on marine ecosystems and their services.
Key Information: Single-stage call; projects must support EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive and High-Ambition Coalition for a Quiet Ocean.
This Horizon Europe call supports research and innovation projects that develop or improve scientific methods, tools, and indicators for monitoring and assessing the impacts of anthropogenic underwater noise pollution on marine ecosystems and species. The aim is to provide advanced methodologies for environmental authorities to monitor, assess, and devise strategies for mitigating underwater noise pollution, considering both continuous and impulsive noise, cumulative impacts, and regional differences. Projects should generate evidence and data to support the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), align with EU-level assessment methods, and contribute to the High-Ambition Coalition for a Quiet Ocean Declaration by restoring a quieter ocean environment.
