The Train In Place Funding Opportunity, part of North Dakota’s Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP), supports the expansion and strengthening of the rural health care workforce by funding programs that enable existing health care staff in rural and tribal North Dakota to earn higher credentials through accessible, community-based training. The initiative targets the development and implementation of degree, certificate, and microcredential programs in high-need specialties, as well as business-practice training (including required coding and billing components) to ensure sustainable employment. Eligible projects may include planning new training programs, supporting business-practice upskilling, or providing individual skill-building awards to current employees. The program emphasizes practical, locally-driven solutions to address workforce shortages, improve access to care, and foster long-term workforce retention and capacity in rural and tribal communities.
