The Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) Program funds ambitious, community-led development and infrastructure projects in California’s most disadvantaged communities. The program is designed to achieve significant reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while delivering co-benefits related to environmental justice, public health, workforce development, housing, and economic opportunity. TCC supports a place-based, collective impact model, empowering local coalitions to select and implement integrated projects—such as affordable housing, transit, clean energy, urban greening, and anti-displacement initiatives—tailored to the needs of their neighborhoods.
Since its launch in 2017, TCC has become a national model for community-driven climate action, with over $424 million awarded across multiple rounds to date. The program emphasizes robust community engagement, cross-sector partnerships, and the integration of diverse strategies to achieve transformational change and measurable outcomes.
