Key Information: All applications due by 5:00 PM local time; R01 mechanism; clinical trial optional.
This funding opportunity supports translational and clinical research projects that aim to improve precision medicine and therapeutics for pregnant and lactating women, fetuses, neonates, and children, including those with disabilities. The focus is on developing novel tools, models, and technologies that have direct clinical or health impacts, enhancing understanding of drug action mechanisms (including pediatric ontogeny and physiological changes in pregnancy/lactation), and discovering or optimizing therapeutics for safer, more effective medications in these populations. Projects may propose the development of new drugs, repurposing of existing drugs, or innovative approaches to dosing, modeling, and drug safety prediction. Both clinical and non-clinical (e.g., computational, in vitro) studies are within scope, and multi-disciplinary collaborations are encouraged.
