    Description

This grant opportunity aims to accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into impactful clinical applications in the fields of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and psychological health. The program prioritizes innovative, non-incremental research that has the potential to significantly improve clinical care or patient outcomes. Applications focused on minor modifications to existing standards without clear translational impact will not be considered responsive.

    Key features:

    • Basic research and clinical trials are not allowed.
    • Preliminary data are required to demonstrate project feasibility.
    • For animal research, applicants must justify the choice of model and its relevance to human clinical conditions.
    • For prospective human subjects research, community-based participatory research (CBPR) approaches are required.
    • Two Research Levels are available:
      • Research Level 1: Refinement of mature concepts into tangible or knowledge products for further evaluation.
      • Research Level 2: Rigorous evaluation of products in preparation for first-in-human studies or clinical trials.
    • Early-Career Investigator Partnering Option: Allows two PIs (one must be early-career); if funded, each receives a separate award.
