The fellowship aims to foster international collaboration and professional growth among academic gastrointestinal surgeons who are members of the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT). The selected fellow will spend two to three weeks visiting two to four academic GI surgical units outside their home country. Activities include observing surgical procedures, joining patient rounds and clinic sessions, and participating in research, service, and teaching conferences at the host institutions. The experience is designed to broaden perspectives, enhance clinical and academic skills, and encourage global networking. Family accompaniment is encouraged, and the travel period can be continuous or split into segments. After completion, the fellow must submit a report summarizing their experience and insights.
