The fellowship aims to develop centers of excellence in gastrointestinal (GI) surgery worldwide by leveraging the expertise of SSAT members and empowering local leaders to elevate GI surgical care within their home countries. Fellows will visit a sponsoring institution, attend the Digestive Disease Week (DDW) meeting, present their plans for advancing GI surgery in their country, and serve on the SSAT International Outreach Committee. The program emphasizes knowledge exchange, strategic planning, and the long-term development of GI surgical capacity in underserved regions.
