The New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) seeks sealed proposals for one Tribal Education Technical Assistance Center for fiscal year 2027. This is a competitively negotiated services contract, rather than a research grant or scholarship. Established under House Bill 280 (2023), the centers are administratively attached to NMHED, with Tribal education experts and academics leading the work.
The Center will primarily serve Navajo Nation communities while remaining accessible and responsive to other New Mexico Tribes, Nations, and Pueblos. Its work includes culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate curriculum, Native American educator career pathways, professional development, education policy, and Tribal capacity building. Partnerships with education agencies and institutions will support outreach, funding applications, and student success across educational stages. Technical assistance may also address capital outlay projects and the expenditure of funding.
