Key Information: No cost sharing required; eligibility limited to federally recognized Tribes and qualifying Tribal organizations.
This opportunity provides cooperative agreement funding to federally recognized Indian Tribes and eligible Tribal organizations to support planning activities for entering or expanding participation in the Indian Health Service (IHS) Tribal Self-Governance Program (TSGP). The TSGP enables Tribes to assume control over the planning, management, and delivery of health care programs, services, functions, and activities (PSFAs) previously administered by IHS. The program aims to enhance Tribal self-determination, allowing Tribes to tailor health care services to better meet the needs of their communities. Funding supports legal and budgetary research, internal planning, and organizational preparation required before negotiating a self-governance compact with IHS.
