This opportunity supports the creation of a single, large-scale Research & Innovation Consortium to develop and test new, dynamic approaches for measuring and improving public trust and confidence in UK policing. The emphasis is on engaging underrepresented groups—especially children under 18 and victims of violence against women and girls—and producing practical, scalable tools that provide real-time insights into public sentiment. The funded consortium will bring together academics, police, policymakers, community organizations, and industry partners to co-design, pilot, and refine new methods and interventions, culminating in a publicly available "Public Confidence in Policing Playbook." The approach must be collaborative, inclusive, and demonstrate real-world impact for UK policing.
