--- ## Description The U.S. Embassy Managua, through the U.S. Department of State, invites organizations and individuals to propose projects that advance U.S. public diplomacy objectives and reinforce connections between the people of the United States and Nicaragua. This opportunity is designed to support initiatives that promote mutual understanding, address shared challenges, and foster collaboration in priority areas. Projects must include a clear U.S. element—such as involvement of U.S. experts, organizations, or institutions—and should align with one or more of the following priority objectives: - **Promoting Information Integrity:** Countering information manipulation, strengthening independent media, increasing access to credible information, and improving media/digital literacy in Nicaragua. - **Fostering Economic Prosperity:** Supporting economic growth, skills development, education, and resources that contribute to Nicaragua’s economy. - **Encouraging Safe and Legal Migration:** Reducing irregular migration and raising awareness of legal migration pathways. The application process is two-step: first, submit a concise Statement of Interest (SOI); selected applicants will then be invited to submit a full proposal. --- ## Due Dates - **SOI Submission Deadline:** May 15, 2025, 12:00 PM CST - **Anticipated Project Start Date:** August 1, 2025 *Note: Early submission is strongly encouraged, as proposals may be reviewed and funds committed on a rolling basis before the deadline.* --- ## Funding Amount - **Organizations:** $20,000 to $80,000 per award - **Individuals:** $20,000 to $50,000 per award - **Project Duration:** Up to 12 months (continuation possible, subject to performance and funding) - **Cost Sharing:** Not required, but encouraged --- ## Eligibility Eligible applicants include: - Not-for-profit organizations (including think tanks, civil society, and NGOs) - Commercial educational and cultural organizations with not-for-profit activities - Individuals **Ineligible applicants:** For-profit/commercial entities **Ineligible projects:** Partisan political activity, charitable/development activities, construction, commercial projects, religious activities, fundraising, lobbying, prize-only competitions, scientific research/surveys, or projects duplicating existing efforts. --- ## Application Process ### Step 1: Statement of Interest (SOI) - Submit a 1–4 page SOI in English, clearly outlining: - Applicant and project information - Project summary, objectives, and target audience - Location, timeline, and promotion plans - Expected outcomes and outputs - Budget estimate by category - Organizational capacity (or individual background) - **SOI Form:** Download the [SOI template (DOCX)](https://api.atomgrants.com/storage/v1/object/public/grants3-sources/01102025%20SOI%20Form.%20PDS-MGA-APS-FY25-01.docx) - **Submission:** Email completed SOI to [PASManagua@state.gov](mailto:PASManagua@state.gov) with the subject line: "APS Statement of Interest [PROJECT NAME]" - **Review:** SOIs are reviewed for alignment with Embassy priorities, clarity of objectives, feasibility, and budget.
