Description
The U.S. Embassy Libreville Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) offers small grants to support projects that strengthen cultural ties between the United States and Gabon. The program funds cultural and exchange initiatives that highlight shared values, promote bilateral cooperation, and foster greater understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives. All funded projects must include an American cultural element or a connection with American experts, organizations, or institutions.
Priority areas include:
- Enhancing capacity to preserve the environment and biodiversity to counter climate change
- Deepening U.S.–Gabon people-to-people ties (e.g., explaining U.S. policies, culture, and values to Gabonese audiences)
- Increasing civic engagement in Gabonese society
Examples of eligible activities:
- Academic and professional lectures, seminars, and speaker programs
- Artistic and cultural workshops, joint performances, and exhibitions
- Cultural heritage conservation and preservation programs
- Professional and academic exchanges
Certain activities are not eligible, including partisan political activity, charitable or development activities, construction, religious activities, fundraising, lobbying, scientific research, institutional development, or duplicating existing programs.
