The VA Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem (GPD) Program is the Department of Veterans Affairs’ primary initiative to support community-based organizations in delivering transitional housing and comprehensive supportive services to Veterans experiencing homelessness. Since 1994, the GPD Program has funded organizations to provide a range of housing models and wraparound services, with the goal of helping Veterans move toward permanent housing, increase their income and skills, and achieve greater self-determination. The program supports various grant types, including Per Diem Only (PDO), Transition in Place (TIP), Special Need, Case Management, and Capital grants, each designed to address specific needs and populations within the Veteran community.
