Description

This opportunity funds the implementation and enhancement of Veterans Treatment Court (VTC) operations, aiming to reduce opioid, stimulant, and other substance use—including alcohol—among high-risk/high-need veterans within the criminal justice system. VTCs are specialized court dockets that integrate substance use disorder (SUD) and mental health disorder (MHD) treatment, mandatory drug testing, incentives and sanctions, and transitional services in judicially supervised settings. The program targets veterans with SUD and/or co-occurring mental health disorders, including those with histories of violence, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and/or traumatic brain injury (TBI).
