Virtual NSLI-Y is a 10-week, beginner-level virtual foreign language and culture program for U.S. high school students. Funded by the U.S. Department of State and administered by the American Councils for International Education, the program introduces participants to critical languages (Arabic, Chinese [Mandarin], Korean, and Russian) and fosters intercultural awareness through cultural activities. Classes are held twice weekly in small groups (about 10 students per class) with experienced teachers, focusing on language acquisition and global competence in alignment with ACTFL World Readiness Standards and Asia Society’s Four Domains of Global Competence.
