The Visiting Senior Fellowships support established scholars with two-month, full-time research appointments in residence at the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts (CASVA), part of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Fellows benefit from access to the National Gallery’s extensive library, art collections, and scholarly community, and are provided with office space and housing (subject to availability). The program encourages research in the history, theory, and criticism of the visual arts from any period or region, with particular support for projects in understudied areas. Scholars from any discipline whose work examines or interprets visual art or culture are welcome to apply.
