The Washington Applied Sustainability Internship (WASI) is a competitive summer program designed for Washington-based undergraduate students in their junior or senior year (including graduating seniors) majoring in engineering, chemistry, environmental science, sustainability, business, or related fields. WASI connects students with Washington businesses to research and implement pollution prevention and sustainability projects that go beyond compliance, aiming to reduce waste, conserve resources, and improve environmental and economic outcomes. Interns receive technical mentorship, hands-on project experience, and opportunities to communicate scientific findings to diverse audiences. The program is administered by Washington Sea Grant and the Washington State Department of Ecology, with support from the EPA Pollution Prevention Grant.
