This fellowship is designed to advance responsible marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) in the Salish Sea by ensuring that scientific models for tracking and verifying carbon removal are informed by the perspectives of Tribal rightsholders, coastal communities, environmental justice organizations, resource managers, and scientists. The selected fellow will lead a regional community convening, engage in sustained outreach, and foster collaboration to align mCDR monitoring and modeling tools with local values and priorities. The program offers immersive exposure to cutting-edge ocean science, community-engaged research, and a diverse professional network across the U.S. and Canada, while contributing to climate solutions that address the needs of affected communities.
