The Water Quality Improvement Project (WQIP) Program is a competitive, statewide reimbursement grant administered by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). The program funds construction and implementation projects that directly improve water quality or habitat, promote flood risk reduction and climate resiliency, restore habitats, or protect drinking water sources throughout New York State. Eligible project types include wastewater treatment improvements, nonagricultural nonpoint source abatement and control, municipal stormwater system upgrades, land acquisition for source water protection, salt storage and road salt reduction, dam safety repair and removal, aquatic connectivity, marine district and fish/wildlife habitat restoration, and landfill leachate treatment.
