This award supports early-career researchers who are ready to design, plan, and deliver their own innovative research project in any health-related discipline. The goal is to foster the next generation of creative, independent research leaders by providing significant resources to develop research vision, technical skills, collaborative networks, and leadership abilities. Projects can advance understanding in any field relevant to human health, including STEM, humanities, social sciences, clinical, and public health research. The scheme is open to researchers based in the UK, Republic of Ireland, and low- or middle-income countries (excluding India and mainland China). The award covers the applicant's salary and up to £400,000 for research expenses, typically over five years, with additional allowances for training, relocation, and other eligible costs.
