--- ## Description This fellowship honors Dr. William (Bill) Butler’s significant legacy in mineralized tissue research and mentorship. It is designed to support early-career researchers working in mineralized tissues, oral biology, and related fields, with the aim of cultivating the next generation of independent investigators and academic mentors. The fellowship provides resources for postdoctoral research, lab establishment, research project completion, or preparation of research for publication or grant submission. --- ## Due Dates - Applications Open: July 14, 2025 - Applications Close: October 1, 2025 --- ## Funding Amount - One fellowship award of $8,000. - Funds must be used for postdoctoral research, laboratory establishment, completion of a research project, or preparation of research for publication or grant submission. - Indirect costs are capped at 8% of the budget. --- ## Eligibility Applicants must: - Be a member of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR). - Be within 10 years of their last professional degree. - Demonstrate a commitment to a research career in mineralized tissues and oral biology, and show academic promise (evaluated via CV, project, and supporting letters). - Hold a DDS/DMD and/or PhD, or equivalent advanced degree. - Hold an appointment at the post-doctoral, instructor, assistant professor level, or equivalent at a research/academic institution. - While emphasis is on mineralized tissues and clinical research, candidates in other dental, oral, and craniofacial research areas are encouraged to apply. --- ## Application Process Applicants must submit: - A letter of support from both their research supervisor and department chair. - A project outline (max 4 pages, 11 pt. font) including a career development plan, description of fund use, and statement on fellowship impact. - A personal statement (max 1 page) explaining candidacy. - Curriculum vitae or biosketch (max 5 pages). - [Budget and justification](https://www.iadr.org/media/3998) showing how the $8,000 will be spent (indirect costs ≤8%).
