The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) Overdose Prevention Supplies Program provides naloxone and drug checking supplies at no cost to eligible Wisconsin agencies for free community distribution. Agencies may request naloxone only, drug checking supplies only, or both. The program prioritizes reaching people at risk of overdose and those likely to witness an overdose, and encourages partnerships that expand community access.
The Division of Care and Treatment Services supports the program with SAMHSA State Opioid Response Grant funding and the state government’s share of opioid settlement funds. Participating agencies receive training and technical assistance on overdose prevention, naloxone administration, drug checking, and effective distribution strategies. Monthly train-the-trainer events, reusable presentation materials, individual assistance, and communities of practice support this work.
