--- ## Description The Young Edmonton Grants (YEG) program, offered by the Edmonton Community Foundation, is designed to empower youth aged 13–24 in Edmonton and surrounding areas to lead, organize, and implement their own community-impact projects. The program provides financial support for initiatives that demonstrate youth leadership, such as mentoring, skills development, teamwork, and community involvement. Funding is intended to enable young people to create and deliver their own ideas, not to support organizations or agencies that serve youth. All applications must be partnered with a registered Canadian charity (which may include schools), and the partner must endorse the project. The goal is to foster personal growth, innovation, and lasting positive change driven by youth themselves. --- ## Due Dates - October 15, 2026: Young Edmonton Grants application deadline (Autumn intake) — applications due by 11:59pm for projects starting after December 1 - March 15, 2027: Young Edmonton Grants application deadline (Spring intake) — applications due by 11:59pm for projects starting after May 1 Applications must be submitted through the online portal before the deadline. --- ## Funding Amount - Grants range from $500 up to $3,000 per project. - Funds are awarded to the partner charity or school, not directly to individuals. - Typical project duration is flexible, based on the proposed activity. --- ## Eligibility - **Applicants:** Youth aged 13–24 residing in Edmonton or the surrounding area. - **Project Leadership:** Projects must be initiated, led, and organized by youth. Applications submitted by organizations or agencies are not eligible. - **Partnership:** All projects must have a partner registered Canadian charity (including schools), which will receive and administer the funds. - **Eligible Projects:** Initiatives that demonstrate youth leadership (e.g., mentoring, skill development, community involvement). - **Ineligible Projects:** Those involving direct religious or partisan political activity, personal benefit (scholarships, bursaries, gift cards), activities that have already occurred, or projects outside the Edmonton area. --- ## Application Process - **Start Early:** Applications are available via the [ECF online portal](https://ecf.smartsimple.ca/s_Login.jsp). Register as an individual and select the Young Edmonton Grants stream. - **Partner Endorsement:** The partner charity or school must complete an online endorsement form as part of the application. - **Detailed Proposal:** Applicants must provide a clear project plan, budget, and demonstrate youth leadership. - **Review:** Applications are reviewed by a committee of youth aged 13–24 who make funding recommendations. - **Reporting:** Successful applicants must submit a brief summary report after project completion.
