Homes and Community Renewal’s Office of Community Renewal administers these community and economic development opportunities through New York’s Consolidated Funding Application (CFA). The 2019 offering included New York Main Street (NYMS) building renovations and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) support for community planning, microenterprise, public facilities, and public infrastructure. NYMS invests in downtown mixed-use commercial districts to stimulate reinvestment, leverage additional funds, and sustain neighborhood revitalization.
CDBG supports decent, affordable housing, suitable living environments, and expanded economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income (LMI) people. Its Economic Development and Small Business Assistance programs support business attraction, expansion, retention, and related public infrastructure. These programs prioritize permanent, high-quality, full-time jobs with good pay, benefits, and training. Economic Development and Small Business Assistance used a separate, two-stage Open Round process rather than the 2019 CFA deadline.
