Description
The Local Government Efficiency (LGE) Grant Program is administered by the New York State Department of State’s Division of Local Government Services. It funds planning and implementation of shared services, functional consolidations, and eligible local government consolidations and dissolutions. Projects must develop or expand service delivery initiatives that reduce current or future operating costs while incorporating technologies and processes that modernize local services.
The program supports regional projects, local projects, and qualification grants to develop future regional proposals. Priority functions include information technology and cybersecurity, emergency services, shared code enforcement and municipal planning, water and wastewater management, and clean energy. Applicants must demonstrate commitment to completion and long-term benefits for residents and taxpayers through financial estimates, operational changes, and performance measures. Projects outside the priority functions remain eligible.
