Description
The American Political Science Association (APSA) offers travel and accessibility grants to first-generation higher education scholars who participated in the 2026 APSA Annual Meeting in Boston. The program supports meeting participation rather than a separate research project. It is part of the work of APSA’s Committee on the Status of First Generation Scholars in the Profession, which has offered reimbursement grants with APSA since 2017.
Established by the APSA Council in September 2015, the committee focuses on how class, economic inequality, and mobility affect political scientists’ educational and professional careers. Alongside travel support, its work includes reporting on first-generation scholars’ experiences and hosting panels and roundtables addressing professional challenges, support for faculty and graduate students, and the hidden curriculum in political science.
