Description
The New York State Education Department’s My Brother’s Keeper Fellows Program supports rising 12th-grade students, with an emphasis on boys and young men of color and inclusion of all students. Approved MBK Communities partner with local postsecondary institutions, businesses, or community-based organizations to provide authentic leadership experiences in government, education, or business. The program seeks to close opportunity gaps, broaden career exposure, and strengthen college and career readiness.
Fellows participate in a 10-month fellowship during their senior year, receive mentoring from a partner employee, and complete a service project tied to a New York State MBK Milestone. They also contribute to a statewide Fellows Workgroup informing the MBK Mentoring Network. Successful participants become MBK Program Ambassadors, joining former Fellows as community leaders who provide feedback to state and local officials.
