2026-2028 Global Research Mentorship Program (GREMP) Fellowships support medical physics mentor–mentee pairs in collaborative PhD research to strengthen research skills and lasting international partnerships.
Funder: American Association of Physicists in Medicine
Due Dates (Anticipated): January 2027 (Application deadline)
Funding Amounts: Up to $10,000 per Mentorship Quad in travel awards; structured participation lasts a little over a year
Summary: GREMP connects medical physics mentor–mentee pairs in resource-limited countries with AAPM-affiliated pairs for collaborative research and mentorship.
Key Information: Global mentors apply with a current mentee enrolled in a medical physics-related PhD program.
The Global Research Mentorship Program (GREMP) is an AAPM International Council initiative supporting graduate-level medical physics research through international collaboration. It connects mentor–mentee pairs from emerging medical physics programs in resource-limited countries with AAPM-affiliated pairs from established research programs. Each Mentorship Quad develops a collaborative project tailored to the global mentee’s PhD thesis while strengthening research and mentoring skills.
The program particularly encourages global health research in emerging fields such as radiopharmaceutical therapies, work extending beyond conventional radiology and radiation oncology, and computational physics integrating AI/ML/DT technologies. Travel awards support institutional visits and AAPM Annual Meeting attendance. Regular research meetings, mentoring plans, and scientific goals are intended to build lasting collaborations among researchers and institutions.
