Description

This program aims to advance public safety in Pennsylvania by supporting the creation of new full-time, full-service regional police departments and the expansion of existing regional departments through the addition of chartered municipalities. The initiative is designed to foster intergovernmental cooperation, improve uniformity in law enforcement, optimize recruitment and deployment, enhance training and career development, and create cost efficiencies. Funding is available for technology and equipment, legal fees, recruitment and training, partial police chief salary support, and rebranding expenses. The program is intended to drive measurable improvements in police coverage, training, and technology adoption, leading to more professional and effective regional policing services across the Commonwealth.
