Description
The Hydrocephalus Association’s Accelerator Award supports research aimed at preventing hydrocephalus or developing treatments at any stage of the bench-to-bedside pipeline. Its central emphasis is progression: investigators must explain how the proposed project builds on existing work and advances it to a clearly identified next level. Examples include moving in vitro studies into animal models, advancing small-animal research to large animals, and translating animal studies into human clinical research.
The program seeks projects aligned with the hydrocephalus community’s treatment and prevention research priorities. These encompass nonsurgical and permanent treatments, understanding the causes and processes leading to hydrocephalus, preventing the condition, and repairing associated brain damage. Cross-disciplinary teams are encouraged.
