Its primary aim is to stimulate new research directions and generate preliminary data for future extramural funding proposals. Projects should be aligned with strategic priorities such as collaborative team science, cancer mechanisms, prevention and early detection, immunotherapy, reducing cancer burden in North Carolina, and cancer data science. The awards are open to all UNC Lineberger Research Members; other UNC system faculty may apply as co-leads with a Lineberger-affiliated MPI.
