    Description

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), within the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs, funds local strategies to reduce violent juvenile crime and improve communities’ responses to children exposed to violence. The program seeks to reduce both the incidence of violence and its lasting effects by strengthening juvenile offender accountability and coordinated responses to child victimization.

Supported work includes prevention and intervention strategies, crisis intervention, safety planning, case management, community referrals, mental health treatment, and family support services. Multidisciplinary teams should identify service gaps and barriers, develop a comprehensive network of services for children and families, and build community capacity to respond to violence.
