    Description

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), within the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP), funds the development, improvement, or implementation of emergency planning for state, Tribal, county, and local juvenile justice residential facilities. Projects should prepare facilities to protect youth and staff, keep families informed, continue operations, and reduce risks during and after emergencies.

The program aims to improve facilities’ ability to respond to and recover from natural, technological, or nonnatural incidents requiring action to protect life and property. Funding may support restoration of essential services and operations, as well as preparedness activities that maintain operational continuity and reduce risk to physical structures. Applicants may propose relevant safety and emergency preparedness activities beyond the examples in OJJDP’s emergency planning guide.
