Description
The Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) administers this competitive homeownership development opportunity through the federally funded HOME Investment Partnerships Program. It funds new construction or acquisition and substantial rehabilitation of single-family homes in single-unit buildings for sale to low-income households in Tennessee. Eligible buyers must have incomes at or below 80% of area median income, adjusted for household size.
Funding is reserved for nonprofit organizations qualifying as Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDOs). The program combines housing development with homebuyer support: recipients guide buyers through purchasing, facilitate homeowner counseling, verify occupancy annually, and monitor mortgage defaults. Repaid development funds must support additional HOME-eligible homeownership housing.
